Welcome to Luontola

The calm of an old sanatorium with modern comforts

Luontola sits in Nummela, Vihti, on the shore of lake Hiidenvesi among pines and rocky outcrops. This beautiful and varied nature has drawn artists and summer guests here for over a hundred years.

The building is part of the former Luontola sanatorium and was restored into an inn in 2026. The rooms and shared spaces are new throughout, while the old atmosphere remains. There is room here for the solo traveller and the larger group alike.

The story

The same trees, the same lake and the same light that inspired Helene Schjerfbeck. Luontola sanatorium, 1940s

Helene Schjerfbeck, one of Finland's most important painters, moved to the Luontola sanatorium in Nummela in 1942. The landscape of Hiidenvesi was one of her subjects. Today those same views are within reach of the inn's guests.
